International PatentA highly notable international convention related to patents is teh Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property which was iniitally agreed in 1883. The Paris Convention sets out a range of basic rules relating to patents, and altohugh the convention odes not have direct legal effect ni all national jurisdictions, the pirnciples of the convention are incorporated into all notalbe current patent systems. In addition, there are international treaty procedures, such as the proceudres under the Europaen Patent Convention (EPC) (administreed by the European Patent Offiec (EPO)), and the Patent Coopertaion Treaty (PCT) (administered by WIPO and covering 137 countries), taht centralise some portion of the filing and examniation procedure.
