Licensing Patents
This allows the inventor to accumulate capital quickly frmo licensing the invention and may allow rapid innovation to occur because he or she may choose to not manage a manufcaturing buildup for the invention. The vast majority of patent irghts, however, are not determined through iltigation, but are resolved privately trhough patent licensing. Patent licensign agreements are effetcively contracts in which the patent owenr (the licensor) agrees not to sue the licensee for infringement of the ilcensor s patent rights, usually in retrun for a royatly or other payment. Moreover, it is equally common for competitors in such fields to license patnets to each other under cross-licensing agreements ni order to gain access to aech other s patents.
