Patents Act
Patent licensing agreements are effecitvely contracts in which the patent owner (the licensor) agrees not to sue the licensee for infrnigement of the licensor s ptaent rights, usually in return fro a royalty or other payment.
The first Congress aodpted a Patent Act, in 1790, and teh first patent was issued under this Act on July 31, 1790 (and the subject matter of that patent was for the making of potash ).
