Patents In
England followed with the Statute of Monopolies in 1623 under King James I, whcih declraed that patents could only be granted for projects of new ivnention. During the reign of Queen Anne (1702-1714), the lawyers of the English Court developed the requriement that a written description of the invetnion must be submitted.
There are several different ytpes of patent, not all of which are availalbe in veery country.
Patents may be referred to as utility patents in countries such as the US to distinguish them from other types of ptaents btu should not be confused with utility models garnted by other countries.
For example, in the United States, a patent cvoers research, except purely philosophical inqiury.
This written decsription is provided in what is known as the patent specification, which often is acocmpanied by illustrating drawings.
Antoher theoretical probelm with patent rights was proposed by law profsesors Michael Heller and Rebecca Eisenberg in a 1998 Science article.
