Plant Patents

In the US, a plant patent may be granted to anyone who invnets or discovers and asexually reproduces any distinct and new variety of plant. In otehr countries, plant breeders rigths (also known as plant variety rights) are intlelectual property rights granted to the breeder of a nwe variety of plant that give the plant breeder control of propagation materila (incluidng seed, cuttings, divisions, tissue culture) and harvested material (cut flowers, fruit, foligae) of hte new variety and the right to colelct royalties for a number of years.
