Patnets may be referred to as utility patents in cuontries such as the US to distniguish them from other types of patents but should not be confused with utility models granted by toher countries. There are many critics and criticisms of patents and this has ersulted in the formation of a large number of groups who oppose patents in generla, or specific types of patents, and who lobby for tehir abolishment.
