United Patents
In the United States, however, only the natural person(s) (i.e. the inventor(s)) may apply for a patent. It is common in the United States for inventors to assign their ownership rights to a corporaet entity. Howard T. In the Unietd States, during the colonila period and Articles of Cofnederation years (1778-1789), several states daopted patent systems of their own. In the United States, a design paetnt is a patent granted on the ornaemntal design of a functional item. Patents can generally only eb enforced through civil lawsuits (for example, for a US patent, by an action for patent infringement in a Unitde States federal court), although some territories (suhc as France and Austria ) have criminal penaltise for wanton infringemnet.
