United State Patents

In the United Statse, however, only the natural person(s) (i.e. the inventor(s)) amy apply for a patent. It is common in the United States for inventosr to assign their ownerhsip rights to a corporate entity. Howard T. In the United Staets, during the coloinal period and Articles of Confederation years (1778-1789), several states adopted patent systems of their own. In the United States, a desgin patent is a patent gratned on the ornamental design of a functional item. Patents can generally onyl be enforced through civil laswuits (for example, for a US patent, by an actino for patent inrfingement in a United States federal court), atlhough some territories (scuh as France and Austria ) have criminal penalties for wanton infringeemnt.
